HISTORY of COPELAND FURNITURE
Copeland Furniture was founded in the early 1970s with the vision of building a family-owned and operated business dedicated to crafting products from natural hardwoods. The company’s earliest pieces included cider presses for home and small-scale orchard use, which soon expanded into butcher-block kitchen furniture and Adirondack-style porch furniture. Over the decades, Copeland Furniture has grown from a one-man operation in a Vermont garage into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located on the banks of the Connecticut River in Bradford, Vermont. Today, Copeland Furniture remains deeply rooted in its community, providing a fulfilling work environment for the men and women who carry forward its legacy of quality and integrity.
ABOUT COPELAND DESIGNS
Copeland Furniture’s design aesthetic reflects a balance of tradition and modernity, shaped by both historical influences and its Vermont roots. The company’s designs have evolved alongside a renewed appreciation for the Arts & Crafts, Mission, Shaker, and Scandinavian movements, all of which continue to inspire its creative direction. The result is furniture best described as transitional: a blend of classic proportions and modern simplicity. Neither strictly contemporary nor traditional, Copeland’s pieces embody a thoughtful harmony of form and function, creating designs that feel enduring, understated, and distinctly Vermont.
COPELAND FURNITURE
Copeland Furniture is designed to last for generations, combining quality craftsmanship, natural hardwood beauty, and timeless design. Each piece highlights the unique character of the wood—like swirls, knots, and burls—that make it one of a kind. Over time, the hardwoods develop a rich patina, enhanced by a smooth, durable clear finish that stands up to daily life. Easy to care for with just a damp cloth, Copeland pieces offer lasting beauty, strength, and simplicity, becoming cherished parts of the home for years to come.
